Nitrox online course, or Enriched Air, will teach you how to safely plan and dive with enriched air mixtures of up to 40% oxygen. Diving on Koh Tao or anywhere with nitrox can increase your no-decompression limits and reduce the required length of your surface intervals when compared to air and increase your safety.
There are 2 nitrox courses 32% and 40%, both have different SSI certifications but you can take the Enriched Air Nitrox 32 completely online, including the exam. If you dive with an SSI school you can get a free upgrade to Enriched Air Nitrox 40 once you are shown how to analyze the nitrox mix.
The nitrox online course is my second or even third suggested course after your open water course on Koh Tao. The other is the advanced course. By adding oxygen and reducing the nitrogen in your tank and there by default reducing the load in your body, you gain longer bottom times. If you are doing many dives over a short period such as a holiday or on a liveaboard, a lower nitrogen load is especially desirable.
Nitrox online 32 is an academic course only, you will be able to use up to 32% nitrox but still plan your dive based on air, the dive shop will also be responsible for analyzing the air. If you are able to go diving with an SSI school you will get a free upgrade to Enriches Air Nitrox 40 when you can start diving again. In this second course, you will learn to use and analyze enriched air as a breathing gas, plan your dive and dive your plan with nitrox, and understand how nitrox affects you beneath the surface.
The digital materials and digital certification, online exam, and any online academic sessions with an instructor are all included in the nitrox online course.
Minimum 10 years old and a certified diver from any diving agency, not only an SSI-certified diver can take the nitrox online course.
This course is 5,000b and includes online training, practical analyzing, and 1 nitrox tank to go fun diving with or use on another course, paid for separately.
