Why Choose Koh Tao For Diving
Koh Tao is one of the most popular places in the world to get your scuba diving certification. Diving is the biggest tourist industry on the island, so why is it so popular here? The island is also one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand.
Why is Koh Tao so popular?
There are multiple dive sites around the island to choose from, you might think that there are dive sites everywhere in the sea but that is not the case. While you can dive anywhere in the sea there is not always anything to see. But here we have multiple places with hard and soft corals, different types of marine life; little ones like seahorses to whale sharks 8m long! Dive shops from the neighbouring islands of Koh Phangan and Koh Samui come here for our dive sites as their islands have limited places to dive. And being an island, if one side of the island is windy due to the seasonal winds we dive the other side of the island. So no matter when you visit you can always complete your courses or go fun diving. Most of the dive sites are only a few minutes boat ride away. Making it possible to make two dive trips per day and two dives per trip, four dive sites in one day. Other places around the world make only one trip per day.
Diving conditions are great all year round
The diving conditions are great for learning as the water is always warm with only a few degrees between seasons. There are hardly any currents to worry about, close, sheltered and shallow dive sites with great visibility and there is lots of marine life to see.
Getting to Koh Tao is easy
Getting to Koh Tao is easy because there are bus and ferry connections available from travel agents around the country. The buses are scheduled so that they arrive in time for the ferries to depart. And it is the same when it is time to leave as well, whether you are going to the north, south or to the west coast to continue your adventure. If you are in a hurry to leave Thailand there are three airports with ferry, bus and taxi connections. All bookable from Koh Tao and can even be done the day before when it is not busy.
A lot of activities all year round
What if you have finished your diving? There are lots of non-diving activities that you, your partner or your family can do. Aside from the scores of beaches and beautiful sunsets to watch, there is rock climbing, hiking tours, wakeboarding, kayaking, standup paddleboards, 2 big gyms, Thai kickboxing lessons, Thai cooking classes. Or just read a book and work on your tan. Check out the guide below for some stunning pictures and ideas.
